FREDERICTON – New Brunswick entrepreneurs are encouraging others to reach out with their mental health difficulties to establish a safe space. Shawn Smith, the founder and CEO of Don’t dis-my-ability Consultation Services, hopes to get the conversation started, but knows entrepreneurs have a harder time finding the right people to talk to.

It’s a brisk fall night in Fredericton and there are hundreds of women marching down Queen Street for the right to their lives. The energy and emotion is high; some women shout until they’re hoarse while others wipe tears off their cheeks or hold onto friends. One women in short hair and a denim jacket is chanting with a defiant note. “What do we want?” “Safety!” “When do we want it?” “Now!” The crowd roars the answers back to the queries. “I love to hear everyone screaming their lungs out,” says one woman to her friend beside her. A paramedic driving an ambulance leans out his window. He is traveling in the same direction as the crowd of hundreds of women walk past, chanting and shouting while cops on motorcycles direct traffic and guides in high visibility vests walk alongside the protesters. The street lights reflect off his round glasses as he rests his chin on his hand. “What are you marching for?” he asks. A woman with curly brown hair turns to face him. “Women's rights,” she says.

The long-awaited Wilmot Park splash pad is opening up just in time to catch the last few weeks of summer in Fredericton. Michelle Horncastle, the manager of the city's recreation and social facilitation division told Information Morning Fredericton there has been just as much interest from the adults in the community, as there has been from the children, about the status of the new facility.

There will be no more pub crawls or tours allowed by student organizations according to an email sent by the University of New Brunswick Fredericton campus administration on Thursday. Pub crawls on the UNB campus generally consisted of groups of people going to different bars and clubs on a timeline, starting at one bar and then leaving as a group to go to another.

A new program designed to help first responders handle stress symptoms is starting up in the fall at the College of Extended Learning at the University of New Brunswick's Fredericton campus. The course is aimed at first responders such as paramedics, police, counselors and firefighters in the community, but the person responsible for the course's design and development says stress can affect many people.

Eleven new doctors have been hired by Horizon Health in the Fredericton region and are expected to make a dent in the thousands of people waiting for a family doctor. The Department of Health announced Wednesday that five family physicians as well as six specialists were coming to work in the Fredericton area.

A vacation that started out as an annual four week flying trip, has turned into years of world-wide travel for a couple from Berlin. For the past four years Andreas Zmuda and Doreen Kroeber have been living and flying in a trike, an open cockpit two seat ultra-light, which is a type of powered hang-glider.

A new sexual assault policy released on Thursday has changed the way sexual assaults are reported and handled on the University of New Brunswick campus. The policy includes clear ways for victims to report, a new sexual assault advocate, and new sexual assault response teams to provide assistance to anyone who has experienced a sexual assault on campus.

A summer job may be more difficult to find for some UNB Fredericton students this year now that the Summer Employment Program isn’t operating. The Summer Employment Program, offered by the Career Development and Employment Centre on campus, has not received funding from the Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labor Departments for 2016.
